Nightline

Life will hit you hard. You can’t even imagine the strength and the intensity with which it will hit you. But it is not about hitting back. It is just about taking those hits and keep moving forward. Keep taking those hits and move forward. There is no question of giving up.

Yeah! I know it sounds familiar. It is from Rocky Balboa (2006). Who said the world’s all sunshine and rainbows? It isn’t.

When the circumstances arrive, we got to win. We got to start the winning way. But sometimes winning is also about not reacting to the hits and still, keep going forward. Not reacting is not giving up. If that was true, instead of hitting hard, life would’ve crushed you. Killed you !

But what do we know about life?

Sometimes we need assistance just for someone to listen in such circumstances. Somebody to just listen and affirm that it is just a phase in life. Not permanent. Just take the hit and keep moving forward. Don’t react to them.

Flow and blow with the wind like Rachel Green. Be a Joey Tribbiani (Ken Adams; travel to Barcelona), sometimes Mrs. Chanandler Bong, or perhaps be a Phoebe Buffay (Regina Phalange or Princess Consuela Banana Hammock).

Don’t be like Ross Geller.

Probably, the best ‘nightline’ anyone and everyone ever has is their parents and family. But sometimes you need anonymity, confidentiality, non-directive, non-judgemental, non-advisory, and the most importantly you don’t want your parents or family to know. But believe me, you should have them know about every aspect of your life.

Silence is sometimes sunshine and other times darkness. Don’t let the sound of silence takeover you in what you find difficult in life. It is circumstantial. It is a phase in life, it will pass.

Trust yourself ! Believe in yourself !

I have found myself in the corner of the ring being hit by life. But I know Ivan Drago will lose.

Gentlemen, Carpe Diem! Seize the day! Knock the silence out. You will walk a winner. Perseverance gentlemen, Perseverance !

I leave you with the immortal words of Simon & Garfunkel – The Sound of Silence;

Hello darkness, my old friend, I’ve come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping, Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain, Still remains
Within the sound of silence

In restless dreams, I walked alone, Narrow streets of cobblestone
‘Neath the halo of a streetlamp, I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light, That split the night
And touched the sound of silence

And in the naked light, I saw, Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking, People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never shared, And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence

“Fools” said I, “You do not know, Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you, Take my arms that I might reach you”
But my words, like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed, To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning, In the words that it was forming
Then the sign said, “The words on the prophets are written on the subway walls
In tenement halls”
And whispered in the sound of silence
!
