What’s your NAME? India or Bharat?

The constitution of India in multiple languages, as recognized in the Eight Schedule, states under Article 1 (1) that

(en.)    “India, that is Bharat, shall be a Union of States

(skrt.)  “भारतं , अर्थात् इण्डिया, राज्यानां सङ्घ भवेत् |

(hi.)     “भारत, अर्थात इंडिया, राज्यों का संघ होगा।

This allows the country to be known and recognized by either BHARAT or INDIA without any differentiation towards the functioning and operational ability of the country, while it is trying to understand through parliamentary debates in both lower and upper house what its name is and should be out of the two.

Then, how the disturbance in the force? This most likely looks a political titbit but it could be due to multiple reasons including socio-economic rationales.

The move to address the nation solely as BHARAT might come to avoid any confusion with the new alliance I.N.D.I.A. While the choice of the Government of the nation supersedes the choice of any political party in whatsoever capacity except for the Apex Court and the President of the nation. Though, addressing the nation as BHARAT is completely constitutional as evident from Article 1(1), referenced above. But what one might ask is the motivation behind and the need to address the nation as BHARAT today in 2023?

Though be it BHARAT or INDIA, there should not be any disturbance in the force. But it will be reflective in the socio-economic indicators such as paper and pulp industry, manufacturing industry, production industry, and related industries and products will probably experience a boom in their activities. This could subsequently lead to a quarterly economic growth but with massive wastage and disposal of extensive inventory. Supply chain will see a follow-up rise, while trade and transportation will also increase. The government sector along with public administration and defence service industries will see huge investment being put off in getting things towards BHARAT orientation.

From ‘Make in India’ and ‘Made in India’ to probably ‘Make in Bharat’ and ‘Made in Bharat.’ A little exaggerated POV might be ‘Made by Bharat.’ Though, the sound of it is real pleasing (Made by Bharat).

The real challenge that might arise could/would be that of behavioural challenges. Understanding the behavioural economics which in this case would be extremely difficult and could substantially affect the productivity of the nation. The name of the government agencies would be a dilemma as to understanding the process and procedure that would be devised to implement the needful. The stationaries and its inventory would require a massive cultural shift.

Though, the constitution of the country clearly states the nation INDIA that is BHARAT shall be a union of states. It does not differentiate the between the two, and thus, leaves upon the government of this nation to take up whatever and howsoever they deem fit to address and introduce the nation with either INDIA or BHARAT or simultaneously both.

The war cry has always been ‘BHARAT MATA KI JAI’ while we address the nation as INDIA. As speculative, it could be a political titbit.

Constitutionally, as citizen of the nation, we the people of the nation in complete unison are required to respond to both INDIA and BHARAT. Our roles and responsibilities are to respond to the nation as both INDIA and BHARAT. The flag of the nation is before anything.
